Season 2, Episode 8: D&D and the Devil - Show Notes

The enormously popular role-playing board game “Dungeons and Dragons” was targeted during the satanic panic as a gateway to committing satanic ritual abuse, suicide, and murder. Dungeons and Dragons allows players to create characters and participate in adventures that can involve monsters, wizards, and magic. Its critics warned the public that the game also involved “witchcraft, cannibalism, and barbarism” amongst other things. As the satanic panic dissipated, Dungeons and Dragons survived and remains enormously popular. Below are the sources for this episode.
