So many histories of the Salem witchcraft hysteria begin and end with the trials and that’s understandable. But, it didn’t end after the trials were over. Even for those families whose lives weren’t devastated by the executions, farms and businesses went untended while farmers, craftsmen, and their wives languished in jail.
